- Who removes Google reviews?
- Google does. Businesses can report a review, and Google evaluates it independently before deciding what happens.
- Can businesses delete reviews themselves?
- Not other people's. Only the person who wrote a review can delete it. A business can report it or reply publicly.

Can Google reviews be removed?
Google reviews can be removed when they break Google's content policies. That covers things like spam, fake engagement, conflicts of interest, harassment, impersonation and off-topic content. Google makes that call after looking at a report. A review that is simply negative, but describes a real experience, normally stays up.
Link to this answerHow do I remove a Google review?
Knowing how to remove a Google review starts with checking which policy it may break. If there's a clear concern, report it from your Google Business Profile or Google Maps and pick the reason that fits best. Google then evaluates it. The same steps apply whenever you need to remove Google reviews that break the rules. If you want to know how to get a Google review removed faster, a clear, well-matched report helps, but nobody outside Google controls the timing.
Link to this answerHow to remove bad reviews from Google?
Bad review removal only happens through Google's reporting process, and only when a review violates a policy. You can't remove bad reviews on Google because they feel unfair, sound harsh or pull your rating down. For genuine criticism, a calm public reply is usually the better move, because future customers read replies too. Our page on removing a bad review from Google goes into more detail.
Link to this answerCan you remove negative reviews from Google?
To remove negative reviews from Google, each one has to break a specific policy. Fake reviews, spam, reviews from competitors or former employees, and abusive content may qualify. Honest negative feedback doesn't, so trying to delete negative reviews on Google just for being negative won't get far. The useful question is what, exactly, is wrong with the review.
Link to this answerCan a business delete a Google review?
So can you delete Google reviews that customers leave? Not directly. A business can't delete a customer's review, even on its own profile. Only the person who wrote a review can delete it, and Google can remove reviews that break its policies. If you're asking "how do I delete a Google review I wrote myself?", open Google Maps, go to your contributions, find the review and choose Delete.
Link to this answerWhat if the negative review is honest?
Then it stays, and that's okay. Honest criticism isn't against Google's rules, even when it's blunt or the rating feels harsh. What you control is the reply. Thank them, acknowledge the problem without arguing, and say what you've changed or invite them to get in touch. Future customers read that exchange, and a calm answer often earns more trust than the review costs you.
Link to this answerCan I report a review that's mostly fair but includes something abusive?
You can. Google looks at the content, not the star rating, so a review that mixes a real complaint with insults, threats or someone's personal details may break the harassment or personal information policies. Report it under the reason that fits that specific part. If Google leaves it up, reply calmly to the fair part of the complaint.
Link to this answerWhat should I do if I suddenly get lots of one-star reviews?
Don't rush to reply to each one. First check whether they're tied to a real event, like a news story, a viral post or a public dispute. Google watches for this kind of sudden review activity and can limit new reviews on a profile for a while. Keep a note of the dates and wording, then report the reviews that clearly come from people who were never customers.

What is a Google review removal service?
A Google review removal service helps businesses deal with reviews that may break Google's policies. A good one assesses each review, explains which policy may apply, prepares the report and follows up. It doesn't delete reviews itself, because only Google can. Review removal services that claim otherwise deserve caution. You can see how ours works on our Google review removal service page.
Link to this answerHow does a review removal service help businesses?
The main help is judgment and time. Knowing which reviews are worth reporting, and how to explain the problem clearly, saves owners from guesswork and repeated rejected reports. A good negative review removal service will also tell you which reviews won't qualify and help you respond to those instead.
Link to this answerWhat does Fix My Review do?
Fix My Review assesses questionable Google reviews against Google's policies, explains your options in plain language and guides you through reporting. We also help with review replies and ethical review growth. Some businesses hire a reputation management firm for broad online PR; we focus specifically on Google reviews. There's more on our About page.
Link to this answerHow does Google review removal work?
Google reviews removal works through reporting. A business or user flags a review and says which policy it may break. Google reviews the content independently and either removes it or leaves it up. Where eligible, you can check a report's status and appeal the decision in Google's review management tools.
Link to this answerHow long does Google review removal take?
There's no fixed timeline. Some reports are handled within a few days, while others take several weeks, especially when an appeal is involved. Google controls the pace, so be wary of anyone who promises a specific date.
Link to this answerCan a service guarantee review removal?
Any service that promises a review will come down is overstating what it can do, because Google makes the final decision on every report. If you're looking for the best Google review removal service, treat any promise of certain results as a warning sign. Look instead for a clear explanation of which policy applies and what happens next.
Link to this answerHow do I choose the best Google review removal service?
Look for a service that names the specific policy each review may break, uses only Google's official reporting tools, is honest about what can't be removed and communicates clearly. Be cautious with anyone who offers to add reviews to your profile or talks about "special contacts" at Google.
Link to this answerIs it safe to use a review removal service?
It's safe when the service works through Google's official process, using the same reporting tools any business has. It becomes risky when a provider uses fake accounts, mass flagging or other shortcuts, which can put your profile at risk. Ask exactly how they work before you hire anyone.
Link to this answerFake Google Review Removal FAQs
How do I remove a fake review from Google?
If you're working out how to remove a fake review from Google, the path is reporting, not deleting. Gather what makes you think it's fake, such as no matching customer record or wording copied from other reviews. Then report it from your Business Profile under the reason that fits, often fake engagement or spam. Google evaluates it and decides. Our fake Google review guide walks through the signs to look for.
Link to this answerHow do I remove a fake Google review?
The steps for how to remove a fake Google review are the same for any fake review: identify the policy concern, report it through your Business Profile and keep a note of the details. If Google leaves it up and you have new or stronger information, you may be able to request a further review through Google's review management tools.
Link to this answerWhat makes a Google review fake?
A review is usually treated as fake when it doesn't reflect a genuine experience. Common signs include a reviewer who was never a customer, a review describing a service you don't offer, identical wording across several reviews, or a sudden burst of reviews from new accounts. A suspicious review isn't automatically a violation, though, so each case needs a proper look.
Link to this answerHow do businesses report fake reviews?
Businesses report fake reviews from their Google Business Profile, or directly on Google Maps, by choosing to report the review and selecting a reason. Keep your own record of why the review looks fake, because it helps if you need to appeal later. Removing fake reviews on Google is always Google's decision.
Link to this answerDoes Google remove fake reviews?
Google does remove reviews it finds to be fake or spam, both through its own automated systems and after reports from businesses and users. It doesn't catch everything, which is why reporting matters. Not every report leads to removal, because Google weighs each one on its merits.
Link to this answerWhat should I do if a competitor left a fake review?
Report it as a conflict of interest and keep a record of anything that connects it to the competitor, like the timing or details only a rival would know. Reply publicly in a calm, neutral way without accusing anyone by name. Google decides whether the review comes down.

How can I get more Google reviews?
The simplest way to get more Google reviews is to ask every customer, soon after their visit, with your direct review link. A QR code or a short text makes it easy, and replying to reviews shows people they're read. It's a steady habit, not a one-off campaign. Our guide on how to get more Google reviews covers timing and message templates.
Link to this answerWhere do I find my Google review link?
Sign in to your Google Business Profile and look for the option called Ask for reviews or Get more reviews. Google gives you a short link you can copy and a QR code you can print. Use that same link everywhere, in texts, emails, receipts and on your website, so customers land straight on the review form.
Link to this answerCan businesses buy Google reviews?
Buying reviews breaks Google's policies, and in the U.S. the FTC's rule on consumer reviews, in force since October 2024, bans buying and selling fake reviews. Google can remove purchased reviews and restrict the profiles involved. Earning reviews from real customers is the only safe route.
Link to this answerAre 5 star reviews allowed?
Genuine 5 star reviews are welcome, of course. What isn't allowed is trying to control the rating, for example asking only happy customers, rewarding positive reviews or pressuring someone to change a lower score. Consistently great service is how you earn more 5 star Google reviews.
Link to this answerCan businesses ask customers for reviews?
Asking for reviews is allowed, and Google even gives you a shareable review link for it. The rules are simple: ask everyone, not only the customers you expect to be happy, and don't offer anything in return. A short, polite request soon after the visit works best.
Link to this answerWhat review practices violate Google's policies?
Common violations include posting fake reviews, paying or rewarding people for reviews, asking only satisfied customers (known as review gating), reviewing your own business or a competitor's, having staff post reviews, and discouraging negative feedback. Google can remove the reviews involved and take action on the profile.
Link to this answerCan I offer a discount in exchange for a review?
Offering discounts, gifts, prize draws or any other reward for reviews goes against Google's policies, even if you don't ask for a positive review. Great service and a polite request are enough, and they keep your profile safe.
Link to this answerCan my employees leave reviews for our business?
Reviews from current or former employees count as a conflict of interest under Google's policies and can be removed. The same applies to owners, family members and anyone else with a stake in the business. Stick to reviews from real customers.
Link to this answerReview Replies & Management FAQs
How do you respond to a Google review?
Thank the reviewer, acknowledge what they said and keep it short. For negative reviews, stay calm, stick to facts, leave out private details and offer a way to talk offline. For positive ones, a personal thank-you goes further than a template. Future customers read your replies almost as closely as the reviews.
Link to this answerShould I reply to every Google review?
Replying to every review, or as many as you realistically can, shows customers you're listening. Replies don't need to be long. Prioritize negative and detailed reviews, and keep replies personal rather than copy-pasted.
Link to this answerHow do I see my Google reviews?
Search your business name on Google or Google Maps and select Reviews on your profile. If you manage the profile, sign in with that Google account and open your Business Profile to read and reply to all your Google business reviews in one place. Multi-location businesses can see reviews for each location from the same account.
Link to this answerDo Google reviews help SEO?
Google reviews help local SEO. Google says review count and review score are factors in local search ranking, alongside relevance and distance. They also influence whether people click on your listing once they find it, which matters just as much.
Link to this answerHow do I leave a Google review?
Here's how to leave a Google review: search for the business on Google or Google Maps, open its profile and select Write a review. Choose a star rating, describe your experience and post it. You'll need to be signed in to a Google account. When you write a Google review, specific details about what happened are the most helpful to other customers.

How much does it cost to remove a Google review?
Reporting a review to Google costs nothing. If you want professional help, the price depends on how many reviews are involved and how complex the case is. At Fix My Review, we look at your situation first and then give you a custom quote, with no obligation to go ahead.
Link to this answerIs Google review removal free?
Google doesn't charge businesses to report reviews, so doing it yourself is free. What you pay for with a service is the assessment, the documentation and the follow-up. Plenty of owners start on their own and ask for help when reports keep getting rejected.
Link to this answerWhat information is needed to review a case?
Usually the review link or a screenshot, your business name or Business Profile link, and a short note on why the review concerns you. Anything extra, like dates or proof the reviewer was never a customer, makes the assessment faster. You can send it all by WhatsApp or email.
Link to this answerHow long does the process take?
Our first assessment is usually back within 24 hours. After a report is filed, Google sets the timeline, which can range from days to weeks. We keep you updated as things move.
Link to this answerCan I report a review myself first?
You can, and for simple cases it's a sensible place to start. If a report is rejected, or you're unsure which policy applies, that's when a professional assessment helps most.
Link to this answerWhat happens after I send my case?
We look at the review against Google's policies and tell you what we think, including when we don't believe it qualifies. If it makes sense to go ahead, we agree the next steps and a quote, then handle the documentation and follow-up with you.
